Discovering Paradise
Good news — most visitors can enter the Dominican Republic easily with just a passport and a tourist card.
Citizens of the US, Canada, EU, UK, and over 100 other countries can enter the Dominican Republic with just a valid passport. A tourist card fee is included in your airline ticket.
The tourist card is a simple entry fee that allows stays of up to 30 days. Since 2018, this fee has been automatically included in your airline ticket price, so you no longer need to purchase it separately at the airport.

All travelers must complete the Dominican Republic E-Ticket online before arrival. This digital form replaces the old paper customs and immigration forms.
If you wish to stay longer than 30 days, you have two options:
Visit the Dirección General de Migración in Santo Domingo to request an extension before your 30 days expire.
Pay a modest fee at the airport when departing. The fee increases gradually based on how long you overstayed — it's typically around RD$1,500–3,000 (approx. $25–$50) for 1–3 months over.
While most nationalities enjoy visa-free access, citizens of some countries need to apply for a tourist visa at a Dominican consulate before traveling. Countries that require a visa include, among others: China, India, Cuba, Haiti, and some African and Middle Eastern nations.
If you're unsure about your country, check with the nearest Dominican Republic embassy or consulate for the most up-to-date requirements.
Keep digital copies of your passport, E-Ticket QR code, and hotel reservations on your phone and in email.
You can bring up to $10,000 USD (or equivalent) without declaring. Anything over must be declared.
Adults can bring 1 liter of alcohol, 200 cigarettes, and gifts valued up to $500 USD duty-free.
Minors traveling without both parents may need a notarized authorization letter. Check with your airline.
