Calm to moderate conditions in the Monte Cristi bay. The water is warm and shallow near shore. Swimming is generally safe. Some seagrass on the bottom. No lifeguards but usually populated with local swimmers.

Getting there

Just outside Monte Cristi town, about 5 minutes by car or motoconcho (RD$50-100). Walking distance from the town center. Monte Cristi is 3.5 hours from Puerto Plata.
