Playa Palenque questions

What is Playa Palenque like?

+

Playa Palenque is a secluded beach on the south coast between Santo Domingo and Baní. It features dark golden sand, palm trees, and relatively calm water. The beach maintains a wild, natural character without the development found at more popular beaches. It is a favorite among Dominicans seeking a quiet escape from the city.

How do I get to Playa Palenque?

+

Playa Palenque is located about 60 km west of Santo Domingo, accessible via the main highway toward Baní followed by a turn south toward the coast. The last stretch of road can be rough, and a vehicle with decent clearance is helpful. The drive takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from the capital.

Are there facilities at Playa Palenque?

+

Facilities at Playa Palenque are limited. A few rustic food stalls may operate during weekends, but do not depend on finding services. Bring your own food, water, sun protection, and any supplies you need. The remote character is part of the appeal, offering genuine seclusion that is increasingly rare along the Dominican coast.
