Class II-III rapids on the Río Yaque del Norte, suitable for beginners and families. During high water season, some sections can reach Class III+. No prior experience is needed, but participants must be comfortable in moving water. A safety briefing and paddling instruction are provided before launch.
Jarabacoa, known as the "Dominican Alps", is the only place in the Caribbean where you can experience true white-water rafting. The Yaque del Norte River — the longest river in the Caribbean — flows through a dramatic gorge with Class II and III rapids that provide genuine excitement without being dangerously extreme.
The rafting section covers approximately 8 kilometers and takes about 1.5-2 hours on the water. Between rapids, the river calms enough to appreciate the stunning mountain scenery — towering green hillsides, tropical vegetation, and occasional wildlife including herons and kingfishers. Professional guides manage safety while keeping the energy high. Expect to get thoroughly soaked!
