Playa Blanca is a small, exclusive beach tucked within the gated Puntacana Resort and Club community. True to its name ("White Beach"), it features some of the finest, whitest sand in the entire region. The beach is smaller and more sheltered than the main Punta Cana strip, giving it a private-island feel.
This beach has long been a favorite of celebrities and Dominican high society. The Puntacana Resort and Club, one of the oldest developments in the area, maintains the beach impeccably. Crystal-clear shallows, minimal crowds, and a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere define the Playa Blanca experience.
The adjacent Playa Blanca restaurant, perched on a coral cliff overlooking the beach, is considered one of the best dining spots in the entire east coast. Combining beach time with a meal here is a must-do experience.

Playa Blanca's sheltered cove creates exceptionally calm swimming conditions. The water is shallow and crystal clear, with a white sand bottom that makes the turquoise colors pop. Waves are virtually nonexistent, making this one of the safest swimming beaches in the area for all ages.
The beach sits on a coral coastline, so the edges of the cove have interesting rock formations with small marine life. Snorkeling is pleasant along the rocky borders where you can spot tropical fish and occasional octopi. Water visibility routinely exceeds 20 meters.
No strong currents affect this sheltered cove. The water temperature mirrors the region at 27-29 degrees Celsius year-round.
Playa Blanca is inside the Puntacana Resort and Club, about 10 minutes from the airport. Access is restricted to resort guests, members, and visitors with restaurant reservations at the Playa Blanca restaurant.
The easiest way to visit is to make a lunch reservation at the Playa Blanca restaurant (call ahead, especially during high season). This grants you entry through the resort gates and access to the beach. Mention your reservation at the gate.
Resort guests receive complimentary access. A taxi from the Bavaro hotel zone costs approximately RD$1,500-2,500 (USD $25-45). The resort's own shuttle service is available for guests.
The sheltered cove makes Playa Blanca pleasant year-round. For the best experience, visit on a weekday between 10 AM and 2 PM when you can combine swimming with lunch at the cliffside restaurant.
The dry season from December to April brings the most sunshine. The restaurant is busiest on weekends and holidays, so weekday visits offer a more relaxed atmosphere. Book lunch for noon and arrive an hour early to enjoy the beach beforehand.
Making a restaurant reservation is the key to accessing this otherwise exclusive beach. The Playa Blanca restaurant serves outstanding Dominican-Mediterranean cuisine with mains from USD $20-45. Order the fresh catch of the day and the coconut flan.
Playa Blanca is located in the southern part of the Punta Cana resort zone, near the Punta Cana Resort and Club. Access is typically through the resort or via a public beach access road. It is about 10-15 minutes from Punta Cana Airport, making it one of the most conveniently located beaches in the area.
Playa Blanca tends to be much quieter than the busy Bávaro stretch, as fewer resorts are concentrated here. This makes it appealing for visitors who prefer a more peaceful beach experience. The sand is white and the water is calm, offering a more exclusive feel without the premium price of Cap Cana.
The nearby Punta Cana Resort and Club provides amenities for its guests including chairs, food service, and water sports. Independent visitors will find fewer public facilities, so bringing your own water, snacks, and sun protection is advisable. A few small vendors may be present during peak season.
