Playa El Valle has strong waves and powerful currents that make it dangerous for casual swimming. It is primarily a surfing beach, and the ocean here should be respected. Wading near shore is possible, but going beyond waist depth is risky for non-surfers. Several drowning incidents have occurred, so heed local warnings.
Playa El Valle is about a 30-minute drive east of Las Terrenas on a paved road. You can take a taxi, rent a motorbike, or drive. The road passes through beautiful countryside. A small dirt road leads down to the beach from the main road, and there is informal parking near the entrance.
A few small restaurants and bars operate near the beach, serving fresh fish and drinks. The area is not heavily developed and maintains a wild, natural beauty. You can rent basic beach chairs at some of the restaurants. The surrounding area features dramatic cliffs and lush vegetation that make it one of the most scenic beaches in Samaná.
Playa El Valle is a well-known surf spot with consistent waves that attract both local and international surfers. The beach break produces powerful waves, particularly during winter swells. It is best suited for intermediate to advanced surfers. There are no surf rental shops on the beach, so bring your own equipment or arrange rentals in Las Terrenas.
