In the water

Moderate waves with some surf action. The water is warm and generally safe for swimming in the designated areas. Occasional rip currents can form. Lifeguards patrol some resort sections. The north coast receives more wave energy than the east coast, so expect more ocean action than at Punta Cana.

Getting there

Playa Dorada is about 10 minutes east of Puerto Plata city and 15 minutes from Gregorio Luperon Airport (POP). Resort guests receive transfers. Independent visitors can enter through the complex's main gate and access the public beach.
